Questions and Answers

Where are you located?

We are situated above Julien's bakery, in the Hydrostone Market which in turn is located on Young Street in the North End of Halifax. You can find detailed directions here.

How much does a treatment cost?

Half hour treatments are $50.00, while an hour treatment is $75.00. Hour full rate structure is found here.

Are you covered by Insurance?

Yes, if your policy covers Massage Therapy, then you will get reimbursed for your treatment. Please be aware that some plans only cover part of the cost, in which case you would be responsible for the rest.

Do you direct bill?

At this point we do direct bill only for Blue cross, since both companies have an online billing service. If you are covered by a different insurance company, we will issue you a receipt which will allow you to get reimbursed by your insurer.

Does MSI cover any of the costs?

No, it does not.

Can I switch therapists?

Yes you can. Each therapist has an individual approach to treatment. Some might apply more pressure than others, for example. If you are not satisfied with the results or just want to try a different approach, it is perfectly acceptable to switch therapists. Rest assured that the therapists will not take it personally as this is a common occurrence in the profession.

Can I stop a treatment at any time?

Absolutely. If you don't feel comfortable at any point during a treatment, it is your right to end it right then and there.

Do I have to take off my clothes?

For a massage therapy treatment it is best that you feel comfortable and secure at all times or the treatment may have an adverse affect. Most techniques can be modified to treat with clothing on. However, skin to skin contact is the way to gain the most benefit from a massage treatment. It is best if you undress only to your comfort level.

What if it hurts?

Sometimes an achy or relieving pain can be felt during a release this is normal and often patients enjoy the sensation of the pain melting away. If it does not feel relieving then you should tell the therapist immediately so that the pressure or technique can be modified.

Normally a relieving pain should be rated between 3-7/10 with 10 being the worst pain you have ever experienced. A pain or discomfort beyond this range is most likely beyond your body's tolerance. Mild pain or irritation after treatment for 1-2 days is normal as the body may take the opportunity to rid itself of accumulated toxins.
